

The Dark Knight Returns Batman lends him both a spare costume and a cybernetic hand. West's Batman happily donates his utility belt to his counterpart. It's the latter two Batmen who prove most instrumental in our hero's multiverse adventure. Over the course of this issue, Batman encounters Michael Keaton's Batman, the Gotham by Gaslight Batman, the vampire-hunting Batman of Red Rain, the DC Animated Universe Batman (the versions from both Batman: The Animated Series and Batman Beyond), the Batman of the Arkham games, the Injustice Batman, the Dark Knight Returns Batman and, of course, Adam West's Batman.Īrt by Jorge Jimenez. Fortunately for him, he finds some much-needed allies in the Batmen of the DC multiverse. That's despite the fact that the Dark Knight just lost his right hand in the previous issue. Naturally, Batman is hot on Red Mask's trail. Red Mask is unable to make himself into Joker, but he becomes a force that creates the Joker instead. In worlds where he does exist, he becomes more dangerous and bloodthirsty than ever. In worlds where Joker is dead or doesn't exist, he springs into being. His new nemesis is Red Mask, a sane version of the Joker who never actually underwent the "one bad day" ordeal that transforms an ordinary man into Batman's greatest nemesis.ĭesperate to achieve true Joker-dom, Red Mask spends much of this issue traveling the multiverse and interacting with the Jokers of other worlds. Amazon ordered two seasons for Batman: Caped Crusader, but no further details have been announced at the time of writing.7 Images Batman's Multiversal Mission and Gruesome Injuryīatman #135 wraps up the series' current storyline, which has seen the Caped Crusader cross over into an alternate universe without a Batman of its own. The other shows included Merry Little Batman, an animated action comedy featuring Damian Wayne, which also went to Amazon and Bat-Family.

Batman: Caped Crusader was one of six such shows that were shopped to other outlets, with Caped Crusader ultimately going to Amazon for release on the Prime Video streaming service.

Batman Versus the Content PurgeĪ year later, however, the show was dropped as part of the content purge that impacted the HBO Max streaming service and its projects. went on to compare the show to Batman: The Animated Series, the iconic animated show from the '90s that shaped the tone and characters for the mythos going forward. At the time, the team teased in a joint statement, "The series will be thrilling, cinematic and evocative of Batman’s noir roots, while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters."
